Some famous tribal movements of the north-east frontier region have been given below.
Region: Hilly region between Garo and Jaintia Hills
Cause: Against the East India Company's plan to build a road linking the Brahmaputra Valley with Sylhet, bringing in outsiders including Englishmen, Bengalis, and laborers from the plains.
Leaders: Tirath Singh and tribes like the Khasis, Garos, Khamptis, and Singphos
Outcome: By 1833, the superior English military force had suppressed the revolt.
